Before getting our first dog, we thought long and hard about what breed would be most suitable for our family. In the end, we chose a Leonberger. We were impressed by its personality traits and his majestic appearance. Since we barely had any experience with breeding dogs, we first decided to get a bitch because they tend to be smaller and calmer. Our first dog was Dina (whole name: Dina Lví chov). Dina was born on December 26th, 1999 and she was one of ten puppies. The father was Asterix Lví chov and the mother was Brigita Chaloupecké skalky. We brought her home from Horní Libchavy u České Lípy. Her breeder was Mr. Zdeněk Lazar. We did not have to choose her because Dina chose us. She was confident and she was an excellent, maybe even exceptional guard dog. She was dependent on our family and especially on her master, my father. She loved water so much that it almost became her second home. Dina met all our expectations of a Leonberger and then some. She will remain in our hearts forever and we think of her all the time. She passed away on April 14th, 2009 at the age of 9 years and 4 months.
